Introduction

We are essentially a gay establishment but we cater for all gay or straight guests who visit us here at the Mardi Gras 2 Guest Accommodation. We have 16 Bedrooms, 8 of which are on the first floor these are non smoking rooms, the other 8 are on the second floor these are also non smoking rooms, 14 rooms have a toilet, wash basin, and shower in the en-suites, we have two standard single rooms that are situated on the 1st floor at the front of the building the shared bathroom is situated at the back of the building also on the 1st floor

The following statement is a summary of our provision.

Pre-Arrival

We are ¼ mile from the centre of Blackpool approximately 10 minutes walk from the hotel. The Tram service operates from the sea front running to Fleetwood in one direction and Stargate in the other. The main train station is Blackpool North and is 5 minutes walk from the hotel. There are a number of local taxi services that have accessible taxis if required. We can supply contact numbers so that you can make a booking or alternatively we can arrange for you.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities

Please advise us of your anticipated arrival time so that we can be sure we are here to welcome you.
On arrival, we ask all guests to call at our front entrance. From the pavement there are two small steps to a tiled area leading to the main doorway with a doorbell to the right hand side. The entrance has 24hr lighting. There is no free roadside parking however, we have a limited amount of parking to the rear of our building which is first come first serve.
There is a local council operated car park with ample parking located in Queens Street within 2-3 minutes walk from the Mardi Gras 2, the car park is a multi storey car park with several levels, this car park is illuminated during the hours of darkness. It is advised that you arrive at the hotel and unload any luggage before parking.

Main Entrance & Reception

On approach to the building there are two steps approx 150mm high then a level tiled area, once this door has been opened there is one small step approx. 140mm into the doorway which measures (840mm) the reception hall is level, the flooring is carpeted which leads to a door way on the left and right hand side which measure (740mm) and two sets of stairs that lead to the first floor landing. On arrival guests are required to complete our registration form and are then directed to their rooms and our facilities are explained.

Public Areas – General (Internal)

Our Dining Room, Reception, Bar/Lounge Area are all located on the ground floor. The ground floor corridor leading to the stairs to the 1st floor is 1m. wide and is carpeted.
The covering on the stairs and upstairs corridors is short piled fitted carpet. There are 14 stairs leading to a small landing to the first floor accommodation. The width of the stairs measures 770mm.

Public Areas – WC

We have a Ladies and Gents Toilets which are located next to the Bar & Reception Area. Both have a WC and sink including electric hand dryers. These facilities are open from 10:00 until the Bar Area is closed.

Dining Room

Breakfast is served in our Dining Room on the ground floor and is accessed from our reception area, There are 16 bistro style tables seating a total of 32  guests. The tables are 700mm long x 700mm wide, they are 730mm high. Chairs are without arms ands measures 470mm height to seat, the chair back is 1000mm and the width is 420mm. Breakfast is semi self service from the units to the rear of the dining room, a conveyor belt toaster, together with a tea, coffee & hot chocolate machine, is available to guests. There is a selection of cereals, juice and water, followed by a full English breakfast. Vegetarian option is also available. There is a TV in the Dining Room normally showing current affairs or news programmes.

Laundry

Laundry facilities are not available on the premises but there is a launderette within a 5 min. walking distance – G & K Launderette 163 Dickson Road, Blackpool, Lancashire, FY1 2EU. Tel: 01253 623118

Shop

The nearest shopping facility is the North Shore Post Office & Newsagent, 61 Dickson Road Blackpool, FY1 2AP within 5 min. walking distance. A wide range of shops are available in Blackpool Town Centre a walk of 5-10 mins.

The Reform Health Studio, 4-6 Milbourne Street, Blackpool.

Bedrooms

There is Central Heating throughout the building. The temperature of each guest bedroom is controlled by thermostatic controls on the radiators. The beds are made with all season duvets. Each bedroom has a hospitality tray with tea coffee and a bottle of water. In each room there is a TV with remote control. Each room has storage space which usually consists of a wardrobe, chest of drawers and bedside cabinet.

Average bed height is 620mm, average widths of doors (room entrance) is 720mm, all bedrooms have en-suite facilities – en-suite doorways average width is 620mm average WC height is 420mm average height of wash basins is 800mm.

103 is a double room (approx 3300mm x 4800mm) with one double bed, the entrance doorway is 720mm wide. Bed height is 620mm, en-suite doorway 620mm. There is one high backed chair. The en-suite shower room has a wash basin, toilet and shower tray. The step into the shower tray is 130mm.

Grounds and Gardens

To the front of the building we have an enclosed patio area with seating and tables. There are no other outside areas for guests.

Additional Information

Dogs are welcome at the Mardi Gras, unfortunately we are unable to accept children under 16.
Mobile phone reception is generally good.
There is free WIFI access in the building, please ask to receive the password.
Smoking is permitted on the patio area located from the reception area. Smoking is not allowed anywhere else in the building guests not adhering to these regulations will be asked to leave.

There is a fire extinguisher located in the entrance hall, three on the first floor landing, two on the second floor landing and various call points to activate the fire alarm. The fire alarm rings continuously if evacuation is needed. If you need assistance in this kind of emergency (e.g. hearing impairment) please let us know on arrival and we will ensure that you are evacuated safely.
A fridge can be made available for medication etc, this fridge is located in the private accommodation of the owners.
